Step 1: Activate your student account

As a student at Uppsala University you will need a student account. The student account gives you access to the university's networks, printing systems and a variety of services that you need for your studies.

If you are a new student, you first need to activate your student account. This can be done a few days after receiving your second (final) admission decision. If you are admitted in the international admission round you are able to activate your account once you received your admission decision. Once your student account is active, you need to log in and register for your course.

Students without Swedish personal identity number

If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number, you will need a one-time passcode before you can activate your student account.

Pick up a one-time passcode

If you are currently in Sweden you can pick up a onetime passcode by visiting one of our campuses in Uppsala or Visby. You can also do this if you are arriving during the recommended arrival days, at the Welcome Centre in Uppsala or Visby. Read more about the arrival days in Uppsala and Visby.

Bring your passport, or if you are an EU citizen you can bring your national ID card. You will be given temporary login details and must activate your account online within a couple of hours.

Receive a one-time passcode by post

You can receive a onetime passcode by post to your home address. Contact the IT Service Desk via email to request an identity verification for activating your student account. The email needs to include the following documents:

  1. A copy of your valid identity document (e.g. passport)
  2. A copy of a utility bill addressed to you, for example a phone bill, rent or similar that can confirm your home address. We will send your one-time passcode to this address. The bill cannot be older than six months.
  3. When the IT Service Desk have verified your identity and that the documents are authentic, they will send a letter with a one-time passcode and instructions for activating your student account to your home address. You will receive an email informing you when your onetime passcode is on the way.
  4. Once you receive your one-time passcode, activate your student account by following the instructions provided in the letter.

Students who have a Swedish personal identity number

If you have a Swedish personal identity number, you can activate your student account by following these steps:

  1. Login with either:
    - universityadmissions.se or
    - eduID
    Please note you must be a confirmed user of universityadmissions.se or eduID to use those services for account activation.
  2. Log in with your login credentials to the login option you have selected.

If you are not able to activate your account using universityadmissions.se or eduID, you may request a one-time code.

When you apply for a course for the first time, you create an account on universityadmissions.se. You log in with the same account each time you want to apply to new courses or programmes.

If you have a Swedish personal identity number and a registered address in Sweden you will receive a postal letter with an activation code immediately after creating your account. When you log in to universityadmissions.se and enter the activation code you get a confirmed account.

After your second notification of selection results you can use your confirmed universityadmissions.se account to activate your student account at Uppsala University. This is currently the fastest way to get a student account at the university.

eduID.se offers a safe way to verify your identity.

On eduID.se you can confirm your account by entering your personal identity number and then confirm it by any of the various methods available. As soon as you have a confirmed account at eduID.se you can use this to activate your university account or set a new password A if you have lost it.

Step 2: Register for your course

Once your student account is active you must log in to the student register Ladok and register for your course.
