Application and admissions – step by step

If you are studying on a programme and will be continuing onto the next semester, you must always apply for your courses before each new semester. Please note that this applies for both elective and compulsory courses included in your programme.

There are several important dates and deadlines you need to keep track of during the application process. Follow the three steps below within the deadline, so you do not risk losing your place during the application period.

What is a minor field of study?
A Bachelor’s degree from Uppsala University must include a minor field of study worth a minimum of 30 credits, as well as the major field.

Am I guaranteed a place on a course because I am studying a programme?
If you have followed the program's study plan and applied for courses that are compulsory to obtain a degree, you can usually count on being accepted. However, you need to meet the course’s admission requirements.

How many courses can I apply for?
You can be admitted to a maximum of 45.

What happens after I have made my application?
You need to keep track of important dates before and during the admission period. Once you have applied for a course, you can review your information yourself on My pages at There you can also read your admission letter and submit an answer to keep your place.
