COVID-19 report, 22 October

The University has one confirmed case of COVID-19 to report from last week. The University’s coronavirus group and the regional health authority have now decided to suspend their weekly collaboration.

In the present situation, both parties are confident this is the right decision. This also means the central coronavirus group at the University will suspend its activities and this will therefore be the last report published. If necessary, the collaboration and reports will resume both internally and externally.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the University for the fantastic – and often challenging – job you have done. We hope that the stable situation will continue and there will be no need for further collaboration", says Uppsala University's Chief Security Officer Fredrik Blomqvist.

Infection status report

The infection situation in brief is as follows: as of 22 October there have been 1,117 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Uppsala University, since the start of the 2020 autumn semester.

This figure breaks down as follows:

  • 842 students (+1)
  • 275 employees (+/-0)
    • Beginning in the 2021 autumn semester, the statistics for doctoral students are included in the statistics for employees.

Report infection and stay updated

If you are confirmed infected, the Communicable Diseases Act requires you to inform people whom you suspect you may have infected. As part of Uppsala University’s efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 infection, the University has created an online procedure to help you do this anonymously.

Finally – follow the recommendations announced previously and keep up to date with the current rules of conduct.
