Essay contest on South Africa–Sweden relations

The aim of the contest is to foster long-lasting relationships between Swedish and South African students and to promote awareness and dialogue on the special relationship between the two countries. The contest also aimes to gain new insights to take the bilateral relationship forward.

The Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria, SASUF and University of Johannesburg invites 3rd and 4th year students at all SASUF partner universities (of course including Uppsala University), to submit an essay in one of the following categories:

• Cultural diplomacy/issues
• Science and technology diplomacy/issues
• Academic/knowledge diplomacy
• Environmental diplomacy/issues
• Gender issues

One student per category will win prizes focused on early career development. The five winners will be able to get their name out in the academic sphere by having their papers published in the academic journal The Thinker, as well as to present their papers on the SASUF (South Africa–Sweden University Forum) Goes Digital Conference in September 2022.

Deadline for submitting the essay is 20 May 2022.
