Student housing in Uppsala

There are many ways to find somewhere to live. You can live in a corridor, as an lodger, in a student apartment or rent a private room or apartment.

Depending on your citizenship, whether you are going to study at the Master’s level, Bachelor’s level or if you want to come to Uppsala University as an exchange student, different rules apply for housing.

If you are a fee-paying student, that is, a citizen of a country outside of the European Union, European Economic Area or Switzerland, then you can benefit from our housing guarantee. Arranging your accommodation

If you are a non-fee paying student from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland then you are responsible for arranging your own accommodation. It helps to be a little creative when it comes to looking for accommodation and it is important to start the search early. Stay calm, it usually works out. Become a member of a nation and apply for housing through them

Uppsala's nations together have approximately 3,400 centrally located student accomodations. To be allowed to live in nation housing, you must be a member of the nation to which the housing belongs and study at Uppsala University. You can find most nation housing via Remaining student nations mediate their housing in other ways. Visit their websites or email them.

Tip! Some nations have "housing lotteries" for their new students. Ask at the nation!


Uppsala Student Union, together with Uppsala University and Uppsala Municipality, has the housing portal Studentboet for students who are looking for housing in Uppsala.
