Student unions and nations
Uppsala University has several student unions and student nations. You can choose to become a member of one or more unions and nations. They offer everything from student aid to study breaks. A membership can give you entry to the nations, or the opportunity to apply for scholarships.
You can become a member of the student unions and student nations through the website www.uppsalastudent.com.
When you sign up, you get a membership for one semester. At Uppsala University, the Student Card ("STUK") is used as a membership card for student nations and unions. It can also be called a "nation card" or "student ID".
The Student Card also gives you access to student discounts, and serves as a student ID when you, for example, buy bus tickets with a student discount.
The student unions
The student unions are created and driven by students, for students. The main goal of the unions is to ensure the interests of Uppsala University students are always prioritised and protected.

The student nations
Student life in Uppsala is something quite special, and the nations are at the core. Become a member to get access to pubs, cafeterias, libraries, formal balls, clubs, and theatre, music and sports activities.
