At the Department of Scandinavian Languages the research is focused on these fields:

  • Philology and runology: Language history and the development of the Scandinavian languages.
  • Multilingualism, related Scandinavian languages and dialects: The study of language acquisition, use and variation.
  • Onomastics: The study of proper names and their history and meaning.
  • Text and Conversation Analysis: Research about how language is used.
  • Language structure and historical linguistics: A focus on grammar.
  • Swedish and Swedish as a second language with a didactic focus: How Swedish is taught in schools.
