Interlibrary loans – Information for other libraries

Libraries with access to the Libris Interlibrary Request system should use it to make their requests. Orders from outside the Libris Interlibrary Request system are made via Ask the Library.

Book loans are free of charge within the Nordic region. Copies of articles are sent for a fee (see below).

We deliver articles from print and electronic journals by e-mail to publicly funded Swedish libraries. The article must then be printed and given to the end-user in paper form, in accordance with Swedish copyright law.

All other libraries receive articles by regular mail.

Lending policies for interlibrary loans

  • Monographs – Loan period 30 days. Automatic renewals for up to a year.
  • Journals – No interlibrary loans. Article copies may be requested for a fee.
  • Course books – No interlibrary loans.
  • Swedish ephemera (1–32 pages) – No interlibrary loans, but can be copied at a cost of SEK 100.
  • In-house loans – May be sent to libraries that have a reading room.
  • Swedish fiction – No interlibrary loans, with exceptions for university libraries and libraries outside Sweden.
  • Special Collections and printed material published before 1851 – No interlibrary loans.
