Internationalisation at home for students

Uppsala University wants to increase the exposure of internationalisation for those who cannot or do not want to participate in a physical exchange. Do you want to make internationalisation activities available to more students? Get inspired by the successful internationalisation at home efforts described on this page.

The Speech and Language Pathology Programme: international lectures and studdy buddies

For their work with internationalisation at home, the Speech and Language Pathology Programme was awarded the internationalisation prize of the Swedish Faculties of Medicine in 2022. A large part of the motivation for including internationalisation at home in the educational programme was that the programme wanted to contribute to sustainable development while they simultaneously wanted to offer an equal education where all students could be offered the same international experience.

Examples of how the Speech and Language Pathology Programme works with internationalisation

  • They cooperate with countries such as India, USA, Tanzania and England.
  • They have incorporated internationalisation in both programme texts and course objectives.
  • They have organised digital teaching about the terms of speech therapy internationally.
  • They have organised international lectures.
  • They have organised joint exercises and case studies which are carried out together with study buddies from other countries.
  • They have arranged international projects and supervisors during the degree work.

The Physiotherapy Programme: virtual exchanges and international subjects

The Physiotherapist Programme is part of the project Virtual Exchange Physiotherapy. The project originates from the Netherlands and consists of students participating in virtual exchanges where they meet and study together with other students from different countries within Europe.

Event for students and teachers

Once per semester, they arrange the event "Fysios on the go". The event gathers both students and teachers and lets students who have participated in a physical activity abroad share their experiences. Everyone can take part in and learn from each other's international experiences without having to participate in a physical activity abroad.

Future plans

The Physiotherapist Programme have ambitions to implement the subject of global health in additional courses and that their work with virtual exchanges will be part of a examination course in semester one.
