Current restrictions necessary a couple of weeks more
The infection rate remains high, with a peak expected in the coming weeks, according to the Public Health Agency of Sweden in its press release today. However, they also suggest it may be possible to phase out some of the measures on 9 February.
“It is still important to protect those who are most vulnerable to the disease and that everyone gets vaccinated if possible,” says Karin Tegmark Wisell, Director-General of the Public Health Agency of Sweden.
The spread of COVID-19 has led to high sickness absence rates that risk affecting vital public services. However, if vaccination coverage continues to rise and there is no significant change in the impact on vital public services or the amount of COVID-19 sickness, a number of the restrictions can be phased out on 9 February.
